Welcome to the not-quite-ready-for-prime-time schedule for OryCon 44! Seriously - we’re still hard at work on the schedule, but we want to give you an idea of what wonders await you in just a few more weeks. Please check back frequently for changes and additions, and see you in October!
Have you ever wondered how to get from sheep's wool to woolen socks? Join us as we shear away the mystery behind spinning yarn. In this panel we will comb out wool to make "cloud roving" then we will use drop spindles made from every day items to spin yarn that you get to take home! Take part in a craft that's been keeping people busy and warm for over 10,000 years.
Participants will be asked to create their own Doctor, modeled on themselves or anyone they like, in three areas: The Look -- what their Doctor looks like, and especially what they wear. Participants can render this in art, cosplay, or verse. The 'Tude -- how they view the Universe, how they get along with people, if there is any particular like or dislike; the stuff that would make their Doctor fun and interesting to watch. The Smarts -- Give the participants a problem, and let's see how their Doctor would solve it. The challenge should ideally have many ways to resolve, with no wrong answer except possibly "I wave my Sonic Screwdriver at it and hope the monster falls down".
A cordial atmosphere where writers of any genre, and of any level of experience, are welcome to share tips with folks newer to exploring their writing ability, or new to a genre.
